PROGRAMS & SERVICES
At KW Cycling Academy, we are dedicated to fostering a love for cycling among young riders through our dynamic and inclusive youth cycling programs. Designed for all skill levels, our programs offer a comprehensive range of activities, from beginner basics to advanced techniques, all within a supportive and fun environment. With a focus on safety, skill development, and personal growth, our expert coaches guide participants through structured lessons, group rides, and competitive events. Whether your child is just starting out or looking to hone their racing skills, KW Cycling Academy provides the ideal platform for building confidence, improving fitness, and making lasting friendships on two wheels.
OUTDOOR ROAD CYCLING
KWCA uses road training rides in a group setting to build fitness for all of our athletes. Novice, Intermediate and High-Performance group rides are offered. Placement in our group rides is based on riders’ fitness and skill level.
Programming is available March to October.
Monday and Friday Novice and Intermediate rides. These rides are also used for recovery by some of our high-performance athletes.
Wednesday Sprint School, Time Trial or Criterium style training. This training is adjusted throughout the year and focuses on skill development.
Saturday Intermediate & High-Performance group ride (3 rides in one). No matter the athlete’s fitness, everyone gets a "BIG" workout.
KWCA Competitive athletes receive daily training prescriptions (TrainingPeaks platform) to help raise fitness & power levels.
Functional Threshold Power (FTP) assessments are performed quarterly to monitor fitness improvements, and form the basis of training plans, for our competitive athletes.
Race support (Coaching) at development races, Ontario Cups, Provincial and National races.
Some programming offered both in Waterloo Region and Ancaster.
Race & Training Projects happen throughout the year: Endurance Spring Project, Stage Race Opportuities Ontario, Quebec & USA.

INDOOR TRACK CYCLING
Indoor track cycling sessions and racing are scheduled at Forest City Velodrome (FCV) in London, Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton, Velodrome Multisports in Bromont, Quebec and Lexus Velodrome in Detroit.
Programming available September to March
Learn to Ride programs give new riders an opportunity to try track cycling and if interested get certified to ride the track.
Thursday (FCV London) Intermediate & High-Performance training sessions provide over 3.5 hours of training each week in winter.
Training is also available at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre. These programs are delivered by NCIM & Ontario Cycling and incorporated in the KWCA training program.

outdoor mtb cycling
KWCA offers MTB Cycling programs for all level of riders through our MTB program. The KWCA MTB Cycling program uses a skills-based and fitness approach for placement in our MTB levels. Riders who participate in our MTB trail rides attend an MTB assessment for bike handling skills and fitness for placement in our MTB programs, a re-assessed is completed through the season. Placement in our MTB ride groups and training is dependent on skill level. We continually strive to increase our MTB riders’ skills and fitness!
Programming is available May to October.

HP MOTOR PACING
Regardless of cycling discipline, training goals include increasing speed and building endurance. Motor pacing can take you to the next level by increasing leg speed, and is a great tool for triathletes, MTB, road, and track cyclist. KW Cycling Academy offers motor pacing on an appointment basis, to any athletes who train regularly. Services are available most days, April to October.

INDOOR VIRTUAL TRAINING
KWCA Virtual cycling & training sessions are delivered using Zoom/Zwift at home.
Weekly Zwift training sessions help build / maintain fitness through the winter.
Additional weekly virtual group training sessions available based on interest.
INDOOR MTB SKILLS
KWCA provides a multi-station MTB circuit to improve your MTB skills and prepare you for trail riding in the Spring. Skinnies - balancing, jumps, landing, front wheel lifts, attack position, proper sending techniques, stand stills and much much more! This program is for Novice to High Performance MTB riders.
Weekly Saturday morning program at Queensmount Arena in Kitchener.
Winter MTB Programs available for all ages
Two 10-week programs are available - October to December and January to March
